1,930 HP, 513 Racers & Valve Cover Racing? Episode 106 Sets the Stage for the Wildest Mega Week Yet

The Drag Drive Repeat Show presented by Summit Racing brought the heat in Episode 106, diving headfirst into the biggest names, builds, and events that are shaping what could be the most historic weekend in drag-and-drive history. From the technical brilliance of Richard Flint's dyno-tested horsepower gain to the grassroots creativity of valve cover drag racing, this episode celebrated all corners of the culture—with energy, laughs, and big-time horsepower.

From Merge to Madness: Richard Flint Picks Up 100 WHP with Zero Tune Changes

Richard Flint, the man behind one of the fastest S2000s in the country, dropped a bombshell: he gained 100 WHP with no tune change, just a better merge collector and a degree of timing.

"We put the car on the dyno before and after the merge, and it picked up 50 horsepower instantly," Flint explained. "Then I added one degree of timing and it picked up another 50."

The result? A staggering 1,930 WHP. His philosophy? Run higher RPMs to reduce stress on the engine, treat it like a stock block, and stay below 1,500 ft-lbs of torque. The setup is so dialed in that he runs a standard head gasket with zero failures—even at 50+ lbs of boost.

"We could have kept going," Flint said, "but we knew it was time to stop. The car was happy, the numbers were crazy."

SCBR: 513 Racers, $112,000 in Payouts, and Pure Carnage Ahead

Street Car Bragging Rights (SCBR) is officially the biggest drag-and-drive adjacent event of the year. With 513 racers signed up, SCBR is attracting attention from across the globe, including racers from three countries and some of the most notorious names in the game.

Mike and Eric shared a flood of recognizable names ready to battle it out:

  • Doug Cook

  • Jeremy Ortiz

  • Leticia Hughes

  • Richard Flint

  • Taylor Hendrick

  • Tommy Hoskinson

With a street index class featuring 128 entries, and $112,000+ in payouts, SCBR is shaping up to be one of the most competitive, high-stakes racing events we’ve seen all year.

"I’ve got serious FOMO," Mike admitted. "But Freedom Plus is how I’ll be watching every round."

The Largest Drag-and-Drive Weekend in History

The show previewed the beginning of what may become a legendary chapter in drag-and-drive culture!

For the first time ever, four events will be happening across the U.S. simultaneously:

  • Sick on the Green (Kentucky)

  • Drop the Hammer (Michigan)

  • Olympic Street Car Shootout (Pacific Northwest)

  • Rocky Mountain Race Week Mega Week (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

"There will be over 800 drag-and-drive cars racing that weekend," Mike emphasized. "It’s unprecedented. This is the future of our sport."

From coast to coast, drag-and-drive racers will be hitting the road, the strip, and the winner's circle—all in the same week.

Circuit Block Party: Where Valve Covers Go Head-to-Head

Galena, Kansas will host one of the most creative side events: a full-scale valve cover drag racing showdown at the Circuit Block Party.

The event promises:

  • A functioning pro tree with reaction timing

  • Cash payouts for the winners

  • Loaner cars for newcomers

  • A mix of homemade creativity and engineering wizardry

"I'm building one," Mike declared. "I have an inline-six valve cover, some skateboard trucks, and I'm not holding back."

Additional festivities will include belt sander races, a practice tree shootout, and a partnership with Tulsa Youth Services to raise money for charity.

Olympic Street Car Shootout: The Gateway to Drag-and-Drive

The Olympic crew is redefining what it means to welcome new racers. Their 2025 event introduces:

  • Stick Shift and Tailgate Classes

  • Tiered progression rules that scale with driver experience

  • Allowance for tow vehicle access and learning curves

"These regional events are the gateway drug into drag-and-drive," said Mike. "They matter more than people realize."

With scenic route stops like WWII forts and runways facing Canada, Olympic is building a reputation for accessibility and experience.

Donovan Linwood's Mustang Returns Meaner Than Ever

Quiet but precise, Donavan Linwood showed off his newly rebuilt 235 radial Mustang—just in time for Mega Week.

His upgrades include:

  • Dart 427

  • Garrett 88mm turbo

  • Solid roller setup

  • A full 7.50-cert cage

  • Mini-tubs, narrowed rear, and a gear vendor overdrive for better drivability

"I've been stuck at 5.00s for years. This year, I want a 4. I'm coming for it," Linwood said.

The car has already seen 5.12s in drag and drive trim, with several 5.0xs in racing trim, and was rebuilt from the ground up, right down to the wiring. Donovan also daily-drives an SRT4 Neon and has a turbo Buick LaSabre with 20-inch wires. Legend.

Cranking It Up: The Havoc Fastest Street Car Shootout Expands

The Havoc event is back and bigger than ever. Now expanded to three days, the event includes:

  • Tom Nelson’s Chevelle

  • Rob Seaton’s Pro Street build

  • Clark Rosenstengel’s 200 MPH Camaro

  • Joe Barry’s Creamsicle '56

  • Bryant Goldstone's Javelin (with a $1,000 bounty on his head)

"To be the man, you have to beat the man," said Eric quoting the legendary racer Tony Christian, referencing the Schott Racecraft bounty on Goldstone.
