Wife VS Husband for Class Lead!
What would you do??? Do you let your wife win? Does she let you win?? The courtesy of marriage generally ends when drag racing is involved.
For Nicole and Alan Ledesma, the struggle is real. They are currently First and Second in the 13.00 Index in their Mach-E Mustang. Alan took over the lead last night with his 13.015 pass, giving him a 13.047 Average. Nicole is dangerously close, with her 13.0505 average after submitting a 13.089 timeslip yesterday.
What’s it like to drag and drive an EV?
I spoke with Alan yesterday about the struggles of running an electric car on a drag and drive. To me, it felt like Alan enjoyed the logistics of finding chargers that were along the route and had great reviews. If they deviated from the route too far and the charger was not working properly, they had lost all of the mileage to correct the mistake. Imagine needing to monitor an app to see if the gasoline you were buying was adequate. I imagine this is similar to what the E85 racers struggle with as well, except you can’t put jugs of electricity in the trailer of an EV….
Alan and Nicole do have a generator in the trailer with them, but listen to this nightmare…… If they run out of power and have to fire up the generator, they will only be able to charge enough to drive 20 miles after waiting an hour or more!
You have questions, just ask
Everytime I pass their pits, Alan or Nicole are talking to someone about the vehicle. Alan said people are always asking how he likes it and if they have any troubles with charging or the range they get. They said they typically only charge the car once per week and that it’s been amazing so far. If you’d like to follow along on their trip, you can find them at Big Al’s Garage on Youtube!
Replaced a 700 HP Whippled S550 GT for a Mach-E!
One thing everyone finds astonishing is that Alan traded his 2017 Mustang GT with a Whipple Supercharger that made more than 700 hp for the Mach-E. Alan said it doesnt have the power or sound of the S550 GT Mustang he had before the Mach-E, but it serves it’s purpose for now and he’ll be back in a performance car when the time comes. For now, they are enjoying the competition of RMRW and look forward to seeing everyone in Oklahoma City.
