Too Close to Call: Sick Summer Finals Set to Explode at Byron Dragway

Sick Summer 2025: Final Day Showdowns Set for Byron Dragway

BYRON, IL — It all comes down to this. Sick Summer wraps up today at Byron Dragway, and several class titles, records, and bragging rights are still on the line. Here’s what you need to know about the tightest battles and biggest record chases ahead of the final pass.

🔥 Ultimate Iron

Bryant Goldstone is chasing a 6.54 ET to reset the class record. One shot. One pass. One number. Can the Drag and Drive legend get it done?

🛠️ Heavy Metal

Jesse Nelson has the class all but locked up—he can run 0.24 seconds slower than Craig Douglas and still win.

But it’s a war for second:

  • Clark Rosenstengel needs to go 0.02 quicker than Craig to take the runner-up spot.

  • Greg Edwards is the wild card. If he runs 0.04 quicker than Clark, he moves ahead. If he’s 0.05 quicker than Craig, he snags second place.

💣 Super Street

The Diehls are flying. David and Nick Diehl need to run 7.13 or quicker to average in the 6s.

For reference:

  • Sick Summer 2024 – Doug Cook: 7.3254

  • Sick Summer 2023 – Corey Thompson: 7.873
A 6-second average would smash the event’s historical norm.

🐂 Rowdy Radial

Luis Deleon, driving "El Toro", has TWO goals on the table:

  • Needs a 5.73 to reset the Rowdy Radial record

  • Needs a 5.185 to lock in the first-ever 4-second average in the class at Sick Summer
Insane performance incoming if the car holds.

👹 Sick Week Freaks

Rob Courtney needs to run just 0.12 quicker than Calvin “Nivlac57” Nelson to steal the top spot.

🏁 Street Race 275

This class is insanely close:

  • Mike McMahon leads by 0.001!

  • Top 3 are separated by just 0.006!

  • Jeremy Ortiz needs to run 0.005 quicker than McMahon to win.

  • Dean Anderson can take second with a 0.017 quicker pass than Ortiz or WIN IT ALL with 0.022 faster than McMahon.

🏆 Sick Street Race

Brian Acton, the defending champ, leads by 0.002.

But here’s how tight it is:

  • Top 3 = only 0.004 apart

  • Randy Belahar needs to run 0.0072 quicker than Acton to take the win.

  • Cameron Alley needs 0.0058 quicker than Randy to move into second. If he goes 0.013 quicker than Acton, he WINS it.

⏱️ Dial Your Own (DYO)

Suzanne Rooker is in the lead with a 0.011 spread. She’s looking for a pass between 13.189 and 13.200 to hold the top spot.

Robert Hill is second with a 0.019 spread. His target window? 14.130 to 14.149.

Third is a nail-biter:

  • Brian Atwood (0.021 spread) needs an 11.518–11.539.

  • Lance Scott (0.022 spread) is right on his heels.

This Is It.
