Episode 159 Recap: Tracking Devices, Fuel System Deep Dives, and Results From Around the World

Episode 159 of the Drag Drive Repeat Show, presented by Summit Racing, mixed a security masterclass, a full fuel-system breakdown, and international race results. Hosts Mike Narx and Eric White brought on CJ Stevenson (Side by Side Tracker/Sick GPS) and Mark Campbell (DeatschWerks) for two deep-dive conversations.

Don't Make It Easy: Theft Prevention & Tracking

  • Sick GPS trackers run $150 upfront with a year of service, then just $24/year after — way cheaper than subscription-based competitors charging $10+/month

  • Real GPS units use a six-axis gyro to detect motion instantly and fire off alerts the second something moves

  • Consumer trackers like AirTags are not real protection — they rely on other people's phones nearby and can be remotely disabled if reported as "stalking"

  • Recovery story: a stolen side-by-side led to recovering a trailer with a stolen Pro Mod car and several Harleys inside

  • Low-cost theft deterrents the crew recommends:

    • Lock the doors (seriously, just do it)

    • Remove the steering wheel or lock the shifter

    • Disconnect the ECU or add a hidden kill switch

    • Use real locks on trailer hitches and receiver hitches

    • Cable-lock the trailer to the car

    • Don't be the easiest target in the row

"Don't make it easy, right? Like if they're walking in a row of cool cars and they're like, which one of these am I going to steal? Don't make yours the easy one."

Building a Fuel System From Scratch, With DeatschWerks

  • Mark Campbell walked through the exact parts list going into Eric's turbo LS Mustang:

    • Dual 810 lph in-tank pumps

    • 1500cc injectors

    • Return-style regulator

    • Properly sized -8 feed line

  • DeatschWerks' bucket-and-fuel-cell hanger tech keeps the pump submerged even on a near-empty tank using active return-line filling plus one-way valves — solving the classic "pump on a stick" problem

  • Injector sizing myth-busting: a well-matched 1500cc injector can idle smoothly and support 1,500+ horsepower — bigger isn't always better

  • Rule of thumb for fuel line sizing:

    • -6 line supports up to ~800-900 hp

    • -8 line supports up to ~1,200 hp

    • -10/-12 for anything beyond that or for methanol

  • Keep fuel flow under roughly 400 liters/hour at cruise to avoid overheating the system

  • Big news: DeatschWerks is officially the Title Sponsor of Short Circuit at Route 66 Roundup, and the two free entries that come with it will be given away to Race Car Friends

"You can't overbuild something. You just literally can't."

Around the World: Sweden and Australia Deliver

  • Street Week Sweden: Michael Westberg took the overall win in Max Outlaw with a 4.2261, with tight racing across True Street, Pro Touring, and more

  • All Stars Drag and Drive (Australia): Adam Rogash posted the quickest total ET in Australian drag-and-drive history in Unlimited — a 17.793 across three days, including a 4-second pass

  • Shoutout to the Allstars results website for its day-by-day breakdowns and searchable entry list

DDR Housekeeping
