Records Reset at Hot Rod Drag Week 2025
Hot Rod Drag Week 2025 marked the 20th anniversary of drag-and-drive motorsport, and it lived up to the milestone. This year goes down as the quickest in history with 15 records broken across multiple classes. Most records were lowered by fractions, showing how competitive and refined these categories have become.
Long-Standing Marks Still Standing
Two benchmarks remain untouched:
B/Gas: Chisholm and Stasiak’s 9.5206 average from 2015
Super Street Big Block Power Adder MPH: George Gallimore’s 189.220 mph average from 2015
Unlimited and Overall Records
Ned Dunphy reset the standard for the Unlimited class, the overall Drag Week average, and the all-time quarter-mile ET and MPH marks.
New Record: 6.1754 at 247.088 mph – 2013 Dodge Viper
Previous Record: 6.1918 at 240.018 mph – Jeff Lutz, 1969 Camaro Pro Mod
Pro Street Naturally Aspirated
New Record: Scott Miller, 1969 Mustang – 7.9694 at 174.004 mph
Previous Record: Doc McEntire, “See Red” Camaro – 8.033 at 167 mph
Pro Street Power Adder
New Record: Nick Rinehart – 7.1838 at 192.634 mph
Previous Records: Glenn Hunter Jr. (2021) – 7.442 ET; John Faraone – 190.78 mph
All Motor Small Block
New Record: Glen Sheeley, 1962 Corvette – 8.372 at 159.52 mph
Previous Record: Jason Tabscott (2022) – 8.696 at 155.77 mph
All Motor Big Block
New Record: Phillip Tobin, 1993 Corvette – 8.5118 at 157.504 mph
Previous Records: Michael Remines – 8.681 ET (2023) and 157.1 mph (2022)
Street Race Big Block Power Adder
New Record: Randy Belehar, 1968 Firebird – 8.5438 ET
Previous Record: James Karger, 1979 Mustang – 8.5496 (2017)
Street Race Small Block Power Adder
Record Tie: Rick Steinke matched Dustin Trance’s 2023 record at 8.5048 ET
Notable: Both averages tied to the ten-thousandth of a second
Street Race Small Block Naturally Aspirated
New MPH Record: Jeff Sias – 150.848 mph
Previous Record: David Hembree – 150.404 mph (2024)
A/Gas
New Record: Wayne Baker – 8.8068 at 155.3 mph
Previous Records: Wayne Baker – 8.8315 ET; Mike Finnegan – 155.23 mph (2019)
In total, 15 new benchmarks were written into the Drag Week record book, solidifying 2025 as the quickest year in the 20-year history of drag-and-drive competition.
